Kevin Durant Averages 25+ Points for 16 Straight Seasons — Only LeBron Has Done Better

ABC88 reports that on October 16, American media outlet Underdog NBA highlighted one of Kevin Durant’s most impressive career stats: 16 straight seasons averaging at least 25 points per game. It’s a number that firmly cements Durant’s place among the greatest scorers in NBA history.

Scoring 25 per night might look routine for KD, but sustaining that level of excellence for over a decade and a half is a testament to his elite consistency and natural scoring ability. Yet, as much as this record praises Durant, it also indirectly celebrates LeBron James, who still holds the all-time mark.

LeBron has managed to average 25+ points per game for 20 consecutive seasons — a number that almost seems untouchable. The only two seasons in his 22-year career where he didn’t hit that mark were his rookie year (when he still averaged over 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists) and last season, when he averaged just over 24 points while leading the Lakers to third place in the West.

That means LeBron has averaged 20+ points in all 22 seasons, 24+ for 21 seasons, and 25+ for 20 consecutive seasons — without a single break, injury year, or missed campaign. Durant, meanwhile, had at least one season cut short due to injury, making his own streak even more impressive in context.

While Durant is widely recognized as a “pure scorer,” LeBron’s all-around brilliance often overshadows his scoring dominance. Statistically, though, LeBron outpaces Durant in nearly every scoring measure — total points, consecutive 25+ point seasons, clutch scoring, and elimination-game production.

Durant, like Kobe Bryant, James Harden, and Wilt Chamberlain, is celebrated for his singular scoring artistry, while LeBron, much like Michael Jordan, is remembered as the complete package — a scorer, playmaker, and leader all in one.
